Ratna Pathak Shah On Womens : Ratna Pathak Shah (Ratna Pathak), a well-known actress of the film industry and wife of Naseeruddin Shah, believes that even today nothing has changed for women in this country, this society is becoming conservative. The actress has also raised the question that do we want to become a country like Saudi Arabia? The actress said, ‘Orthodox society first tightens its screws on its women. India can become like Saudi Arabia because it is ‘very convenient’.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Ratna Pathak Shah said, “Nothing has changed for women, or there have been few changes in some areas…Our society is becoming very conservative. We are becoming superstitious, we have to be religious. I am being forced to accept it and make it a very important part of my life. Someone asked me for the first time last year if I am observing Karva Chauth fast? I said, ‘Am I crazy?’ Isn’t it appalling that modern educated women perform Karva Chauth. In fact? In the 21st century, we are talking like this? Educated women are doing it.”
The actress further said, ‘We are moving towards a conservative society. A conservative society first tightens its grip on its women. Look at all the conservative societies of this world, women are the most affected. What scope do women have in Saudi Arabia? Do we want to be like Saudi Arabia? And we will be because it is so convenient. How many women are there who are working at home without money. If you had to give them money, who would do it? Women are forced into that situation.” Let us tell you that Ratna Pathak Shah will soon be seen in Tarun Tudeja’s film Dhak Dhak. The film also stars Dia Mirza, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanjana Sanghi.
