Hrishikesh Mukherjee was known as a fast-paced director in his time. Asrani, a well-known comedy actor, once told how Rishikesh was more of a headmaster than a director, giving instructions and scolding everyone. Even to Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
Was confused about the outfit
In 2016, Asrani had told about a similar incident that happened on the sets of ‘Chupke Chupke’ in an interview. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra were confused about the outfit for a scene, as Rishikesh had not told anything about it to both of them. He got angry when asked the question. Asrani had said, “At that time there was a problem with the budget. We used to use clothes from old movies. I usually don’t wear suits in movies and this time I was wearing one. Dharmendra got scared and asked, what is going on? What’s the scene? How did you get a suit and I got a driver’s dress? Hrishikesh Mukherjee will not even give a suit to his father.
There was a lot of reprimand for asking questions
Rishikesh cried out on Dharmendra’s question. He said, ‘Hey Dharmendra, what are you asking Asrani? about the scene? If you had any sense of the story, would you be a hero then?
Asrani also told how Amitabh had also asked the same question as to how he is seen in the suit today. Whose office is this? Even after asking Amitabh a question, Rishikesh looked at him and said, “Oh Amit, what are you asking Asrani? About the story or the scene? Dharam, tell him what I told you. If you guys had any sense of story, you would not have been playing the role of a hero in films. Let’s go back to work.”
